Answer:

a_{n} = -64(-\frac{1}{4})^{n-1}

it seems like the first term is -64, so lets write the formula accordingly:

a_n = a1(r)^(n-1)

where 'n' is the number of terms

a1 is the first term of the sequence

'r' is the ratio

the ratio is -\frac{1}{4} because -64 * -\frac{1}{4} = 16 and so on...

the explicit formula is :

a_{n} = -64(-\frac{1}{4} )^{n-1}

What equation represents a circle whose center is located at (-6,2) and whose radius is 10 units?
Anna [14]
One of the equations for a circle is (x - h)² + (y - k)² = r² where (h, k) are the center and r is the radius.
So after substitution:
(x + 6)² + (y - 2)² = 100

Notice the equation has the opposite of h and k and 100 is the result of squaring 10.

Solve and graph the absolute value inequality: |2x + 4| > 14
rewona [7]
It is very simple, <span>|2x + 4| > 14, we have 2x+4>14 or   -(2x+4) >14 (absolute value definition) so 2x> 14-4, x>10/2=5  or -2x>14+4, -x>18/2=9, implies x< - 9
the solution is x>5, or x< -9, so the answer is </span>number line with open circles on _9 and 5, shading going in the opposite directions.

the slope of the line containing the points (-5, 3) and (-2, 1) is -2/3 2/3 -3/2 user: the slope of a line that is perpendicular
Slav-nsk [51]
Slope = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = (1 - 3)/(-2 - (-5)) = -2/(-2 + 5) = -2/3

For perpendicular lines, m2 = -1/m1 = -1/(3/8) = -8/3

A line passing through point (-4, 0) and parallel to the y-axis is x = -4

diameter=\sqrt{(7-1)^2+(5+3)^2}=\sqrt{6^2+8^2}=\sqrt{36+64}=\sqrt{100}=10
radius = diameter/2 = 10/2 = 5
center of circle = midpoint of diameter = ((-3 + 5)/2, (1 + 7)/2) = (2/2, 8/2) = (1, 4)
Required equation is (x - 1)^2 + (y - 4)^2 = 5^2
(x - 1)^2 + (y - 4)^2 = 25
