It can be caused by a s<em>evere head injury</em> as well as <em>brain tumors, diseases or age. </em>

There are 2 types:

  • Anterograde: not being able to retain new information, <em>after </em>the amnesia developed.
  • Retrograde: not being able to remember previous information, <em>before </em>the amnesia developed.

In this case Johanna most likely suffers anterograde amnesia since she cannot retain new information thus it is mots likely that she would accept another meal because she has forgotten that she has already eaten.
