iVinArrow [24]
The answer is B. First divide the numerator by the denominator which gives you 1 with a remainder of 10. The 1 is the whole number. The remainder of 10 will be the new numerator and the 17 as the dominator since it stays the same. And there is your answer:)

A passenger train left a station traveling East at 88 mph. At the same time, a freight train left the same station traveling Wes
Gwar [14]

The distance covered by the Passenger train is 528 miles.

We have situation in which a passenger train left a station traveling East at 88 mph and at the same time, a freight train left the same station traveling West at 70 mph.

We have to determine when the freight train is at 420 miles from the station, how far, in miles, is the passenger train from the station.

What is the formula to calculate the time for which body was moving if it covered distance = 'd' miles at a speed = 'v' mph?

The time taken can be calculated using the formula -

t = d/v

According to question, we have ;

For freight train,

Speed = 70 mph

Distance = 420 miles

Therefore, the time taken will be;

t = 420/ 70 = 6 hours

For passenger train,

The freight train moved for 6 hours. Since, both of them started at the same time, therefore,

d = speed of passenger train x time taken by freight train to move 6 hours.

d = 88 x 6 = 528 miles

Hence, the distance covered by the Passenger train is 528 miles.
