This is because ocean water has high levels of sodium and the excess of this element causes animal and plant cells to lose water through osmosis, which shows that this water would cause problems in both human consumption and agriculture. However, it is possible to treat this water with a desalination process, but in order to desalinate the water it is necessary to have technology and investment for this and these countries have many economic problems and cannot pay for these resources.
