In am emergency you want to immediantly call 9-1-1. To look for breathing you need to place two fingers under the nose or simply place the back of your hand close to the persons mouth. What it means by checking for saftey, means to chec the enivorment, the surrounding people. To see if the person is reponsive, say 'hello, can you say something?' something like that, ask them a question so they can respond to you.
