9 miles in 2/3 of a hour.

in 1 hour = 9 X 3/2 = 18.2 miles

In 2 hrs = 27 miles

in 3 hrs = 54.6 miles

in 3.5 hrs = 63.7 miles

Answer:

2 hours: 27 miles, 3 hours: 40.5 miles, 3.5 hours: 47.25 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

1.) If a hiker hikes 9 miles in 2/3 of an hour, he will hike 4.5 (Half of 2/3 is 1/3 and half of 9 is 4.5) miles in 1/3 of an hour and 13.5 miles per hour. (1/3 times 3 gives us a whole and 4.5 times 3 is 13.5)

2.) 2 hours: 13.5 * 2 = 27 miles

3.) 3 hours: 13.5 * 3 = 40.5 miles

4.) 3.5 hours: 13.5 * 3.5 = 47.25 miles

Sin(x) =1/10

So Cos x is not known

Hence Tan(x) = Sin(x)/Cos(x)

= 1/10/cos(x)

so cos(x)/10

Irene places a mirror on the ground 24ft away from the base of an oak tree. She walks backward until she can see the top of the
soldier1979 [14.2K]
First, illustrate the problem:

24 feet is the distance between the tree and the mirror.
4 feet is the distance from Irene's eyes to the mirror.
5.5 feet is the distance of Irene's eyes from the ground.
4 feet is the distance of Irene from the mirror

From this, we can draw a right triangle and then use the Pythagorean theorem to solve for the height of the oak tree. Also, we have an option to use ratio and proportion between two similar triangles.

Suppose you roll n ≥ 1 fair dice. Let X be the random variable for the sum of their values, and let Y be the random variable for
noname [10]

Answer:

X and Y are stochastically dependent RVs .

Step-by-step explanation:

Let ,

X = sum of the values that come up after throwing n (≥ 1) fare dice.

Y = number of times an odd number come up.

Let, n = 3

then, P(X =6) = p (say) clearly 0 < p < 1

and P (Y = 3) = \frac{1}{8}

And,

P( X = 6, Y = 3) = 0 ≠ P(X = 6) \times P(Y= 3)

Hence, X and Y are stochastically dependent RVs

Factor completely.
antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

y² - 12y + 32

Consider the factors of the constant term (+ 32) which sum to give the coefficient of the y- term (- 12)

The factors are - 4 and - 8, since

- 4 × - 8 = 32 and - 4 - 8 = - 12, thus

y² - 12y + 32 = (y - 4)(y - 8) → B
