How was the Renaissance important to the spread of humanism and realism?

Answer:

Renaissance humanism was a revival in the study of classical antiquity, at first in Italy and then spreading across Western Europe in the 14th, 15th, and 16th centuries. During the period, the term humanist referred to teachers and students of the studia humanitatis—meaning the humanities including grammar, rhetoric, history, poetry, and moral philosophy. It was not until the 19th century that this began to be called humanism instead of the original humanities, and later by the retronym Renaissance humanism to distinguish it from later humanist developments. During the Renaissance period most humanists were religious, so their concern was to "purify and renew Christianity", not to do away with it. Their vision was to return ad fontes to the simplicity of the New Testament, bypassing the complexities of medieval theology. Today, by contrast, the term humanism has come to signify "a worldview which denies the existence or relevance of God, or which is committed to a purely secular outlook".

Gnom [1K]

This question is missing the options. I've found them online. They are the following:

A. response reinforcing

B. dissonance

C. balance

D. feedback

E. fear appeal

Answer:

In an attempt to use B. dissonance to convince people to stop smoking, government officials have proposed removing all brand identification from packs of cigarettes, replacing it with graphic images of damaged lungs and cancerous mouths.

Explanation:

It is natural for us to try to remain in a state of cognitive consistency in order to function mentally in the real world. Cognitive consistency is a state of harmony between our beliefs and our behaviors. On the other hand, cognitive dissonance is the discomfort we feel when our beliefs and behaviors are not in harmony. That happens when we receive new information that goes against our previous belief.

By replacing brand identification with graphic images or damaged lungs, officials are trying to provoke cognitive dissonance in smokers. Once they see the pictures and receive the information that smoking is the cause behind those diseases, they begin to question their own behavior. Suddenly, smoking may feel less enjoyable, since they are aware that their actions are causing them to get sick.

scZoUnD [109]

TRUE, community-policing is the only police strategy that incorporates the problems encountered by the poor into decision-making by the police.

The police are the body of individuals empowered by the state to enforce laws, ensure the safety, health and property of citizens, and prevent crime and civil unrest. Their lawful powers include arrest and use of force authorized by the state through a monopoly on the use of force.

The police are generally responsible for maintaining law, order and safety, enforcing the law, and preventing, detecting and investigating criminal activity. These features are called policing.

Cops who issue speeding tickets and arrest murderers are examples of police.
