1) jonas got a $35 gift card, each app cost $1.75

x = number of apps

y = money remaining

-> immediately cross out D, you can't buy 31.5 apps

$1.75 per app

-> 2 apps = $3.50   (35 - 3.50 = $31.50 left)

-> 4 apps = $7         (35 - 7 = $28 left)

-> 6 apps = $10.50  (35 - 10.50 = $24.50 left)

look for the answer choice that matches this = A

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) the y-intercept (the point on the y-axis) is -5.

to find the slope, look at the dotted points.

slope from a graph = rise/run

you go from (0, -5) to (0, -2)

-> the rise is 3 (going up the y-axis), and the run is 5 (going left and right in the x-axis)

y = 3/5x - 5 (F)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) ashley earns $6 per hour and $1.50 for each pair of shoes

e = total earnings

h = number of hours

e = 6h + 1.50(10)    <- 10 is for the 10 pairs of shoes

e = 6h + 15.00 (C)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4) $2.65 per mile, $1.50 initial charge

y = total cost

x = number of miles

y = 2.65x + 1.50 (J)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5) y-intercept = 4

-> we find the slope (rise / run)

rise = 4

run = 3

equation: y = 4/3x + 4 (C)

✧ hope this helped!

Since there are 26 black cards (1/2 of 52) and 2 black twos (one for each suite, and there are 2 black/red suites), we can use the same logic to get that there are 2 black eights. 2+2=4, and since there are 52 cards, you have a 4/52 or 1/13 (we get this because 4 goes into 52 13 times) chance of getting a black 8 or 2.
