Answer:

Find out the how much does each pair of socks cost when bought individually .

To prove

Let us assume that the original price of one pair of shoes be x.

Than cost for three pair of shoes be 3x.

As given

Maritza is buying a multipack of 3 pairs is socks for $25.98.

She will save $6.39 by buying multipack instead of buying 3 individual pairs of the same socks.

Than the equation becomes

3x - 25.98 = 6.39

3x =  25.98 + 6.39

3x = 32.37

x = \frac{32.37}{3}

x = $10.79

Therefore each pair of socks cost when bought individually is $10.79 .

Answer:

60

Step-by-step explanation:

Steps to solve "54 is 90 percent of what number?"

We have, 90% × x = 54

or,

90/100  × x = 54

Multiplying both sides by 100 and dividing both sides by 90,

we have x = 54 ×  100/90

x = 60

If you are using a calculator, simply enter 54×100÷90, which will give you the answer.

Carl can paint a room 3 hours faster than Jennifer can
Nata [24]
Jen take x hours.
Carl (x-3)hours.
Jen+carl take two hours;
This means;
In 1 hour, for they work
\frac{1}{x} + \frac{1}{x-3}
=\frac{(x-3)+x}{x(x-3)}
=\frac{2x-3}{x(x-3)}
Working together, they take two hours;
Take reciprocal of above equation and equate to two;
=\frac{x(x-3)}{2x-3} =2
x^{2}-3x=4x-6
x^{2} -7x+6=0
x^{2}-x-6x+6=0
x(x-1)-6(x-1)=0
(x-6)(x-1)=0
Take the bracket x-6=0 so that Carl works positive hours
x-6=0
x=6
