\LARGE{ \underline{ \orange{ \rm{Required \: answer:}}}}

Some functions in variable x is given to us. And the value of the polynomial in x is also given, we need to find the value of x in each case.

GiveN:

  1. f(x) = 6x + 9, f(x) = 21
  2. g(x) = -1/2x + 3, g(x) = -1

What to find?

  • We need to find the value of x in each case.

Step-wise-Step Explanation:

1) <u>f(x) = 6x + 9, f(x) = 21</u>

⇒ f(x) = 21

⇒ 6x + 9 = 21

⇒ 6x = 12

⇒ x = 2

Value of x in this case is <u>2</u><u>.</u>

2) <u>g(x) = -1/2</u><u> </u><u>x</u><u> + 3, g(x) = -1</u>

⇒ g(x) = -1

⇒ -1/2 x + 3 = -1

⇒ -1/2 x = -4

⇒ 1/2 x = 4

⇒ x = 8

Value of x in this case is <u>8</u><u>.</u>

Hello once again!

When you see a question like this, you need to find the equation of the straight line.

The formular used is y = mx + c
Where
m = slope
c = constant

First find the slope, since it's a straight line, any 2 coordinates can be used.

m = { \frac{y_1 - y_2}{x_1-x_2} } \\ m= { \frac{16 - (- 8)}{-2 - 2} } \\ m= { \frac{24}{-4} } \\ m = -6

Now we need to substitude in the slope, and one of the coordinate you used to find the slope, to the formular to find the constant.

In this case i'm using the coordinate
(-2, 16)

y = mx + c
16 = -6(-2) + c
16 = 12 + c
c = 4

∴ The equation of the line is y = -6x + 4

The next step is to simply substitude in the x = 8 to the equation to find y.

y = -6(8) + 4
y = -48 + 4
y = -44

Which of the following statements have the same result? Explain each step in solving each one.
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

I don't think that there is two same results. sorry I couldn't help

Step-by-step explanation:

for I the answer should be 10 if you replaced each x by 2. f(2) = 3(2) + 4

and for II it will be f-1(4) = 3-1(4) - 4 /5 the answer will be -1.

for III it should be y = 8 or 4
