For which intervals the graphs of the functions f(x) = x^3 + x^2 - 4x - 4 is positive
Nookie1986 [14]

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider a function

f

(

x

)

which is twice differentiable. The graph of such a function will be concave upwards in the intervals where the second derivative is positive and the graph will be concave downwards in the intervals where the second derivative is negative. To find these intervals we need to find the inflection points i.e. the x-values where the second derivative is 0.

Please help me with this!<br><br><br> show that {1,2} ⊆ {x|x^4 - x^3 - x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0}
Llana [10]

The set \{x\mid x^4-x^3-x^2-6x+6=0\} is the set of all values of x that are solutions to the given equation. So all you need to do is check whether x=1 and x=2 satisfy the equation.

x=1\implies 1^4-1^3-1^2-5+6=0

x=2\implies2^4-2^3-2^2-10+6=0

The equation holds, so both 1 and 2 are solutions, and hence \{1,2\} is a subset of the solutions.

Someone pleaseee help I’m struggling
spin [16.1K]

Step-by-step explanation:

(0,5) and (-2,-3)

y=mx+b

find m

\frac{y1 - y2}{x1 - x2}  \\   = \frac{5 -  ( - 3)}{0 - ( - 2)}  \\  =  \frac{8}{2}  \\  = 4 \\

m=4

Substitute (0,5) or (-2,-3)

For easy processing substitute : (0,5)

y=4x+b

5=b

y=4x+5 is the answer

Please help me with this
goldenfox [79]
For part A, if P is the center of that triangle, then PR and PT have the same length; therefore, triangle RPT is isosceles.  For part B, by the definition of an incenter...if P is an incenter, then it is the place where all the angle bisectors meet.  Therefore, angles SRP and PRT are congruent, as are angles STP and PTR.  Since the vertex angle measures 64, then each of the base angles by the isosceles triangle theorem measure 58.  Half of 58 makes the base angles within the smaller triangle measure 29.  And if both of those measure 29, by the triangle angle-sum theorem, 180-29-29 = 122  And that's the measure of angle RPT.  Eek.
