Issue of immigration in the 1840 and 1850
trasher [3.6K]

Hi there!

This is a summary i prepared for you, i Hope it works well. let me know if you want more information. During that time there was a los of immigration, we can say many things about it. but here goes a short text for you to understand.

In a general way, it can be stated that urban growth has been produced by immigration and has only partly been generated internally by the natural increase of its population.

Immigrants found new employment opportunities in the city. And they also integrated rapidly from a demographic point of view.

Migration was undoubtedly the key factor in regulating urban populations in pre-industrial society. The city needed immigration to keep its population stable and even more to increase it. And on many occasions such immigration was truly essential.

Between 1892 and 1954, 12 million immigrants entered the United States!!! only through the famous Ellis Island (where the Statue of Liberty is located) in New York Bay. There, President Benjamin Harrison established the first federal immigration office. In November 1954, Ellis Island was closed down as a receiving center for immigrants.
