The universal indicator is used to determine the presence of an acid or base, going from acid to base it changes in the order of the rainbow with green being neutral. Chemical X is Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) we know this because it is a strong acid therefore the indicator would turn red. Chemical Y is Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) we know this because it is a base therefore the indicator would turn purple. Finally Chemical Z is Sodium Chloride (NaCl) which is neither an acid or base meaning it would turn green for neutral. Another thing that helped determine which one was an acid was Chemical had a reaction with the magnesium while the others did not, when reacted with bases, only the magnesium has a reaction.
Hope this helps :)

C₂H₄ + 3O₂ → 2CO₂ + 2H₂O If you start with 45.9 g of C₂H₄, and excess O₂, what mass of CO₂ will be produced?
hoa [83]

The mass of CO2 that would be produced is 144.03 g

From the equation of the reaction, the mole ratio of C2H4 input to CO2 produced is 1:2.

Recall that: mole = mass/molar mass

mole of 45.9 g C2H4 = 45.9/28.05

                                     = 1.6364 moles

Thus: equivalent moles of CO2 = 1.6364 x 2

                                                        = 3.2727 moles

Mass of 3.2727 moles of CO2 = moles x molar mass

                                                = 3.2727 x 44.01

                                                  = 144.03 g

How do mass and type of material affect thermal energy transfer?
Lerok [7]

Answer:

Temperature, mass, and the type of material are factors that affect the thermal energy of an object.

Material with the higher specific heat will have more thermal energy than material with lower specific heat if they both have the same mass and temperature.

What could be done to increase the acceleration of a dog sled? List two possibilities
snow_lady [41]

To increase the acceleration of the dog sled, increase the applied force on the sled and reduce the mass on the sled.

According to Newton's second law of motion, the force applied to an object is directly proportional to product of mass and acceleration of the object.

F = ma

where;

a is the acceleration of the dog sled

a = \frac{F}{m} \\\\

To increase the acceleration of the dog sled:

  • Increase the applied force on the sled.
  • Reduce the mass on the sled.
