Well lets assume that NO = NP. If this is the case then 17 = 5x - 6. We then want to solve for x. So add 6 to each side, this equals 23 = 5x. I do not know if it is suppose to be a decimal, but I will do it anyway. Divide 23 by 5 which is 4.6. So x = 4.6. Now plug this into x. So NO = 17 and NP = 17. This is the only way I see possible to solve this problem. Let me know if it was correct please.

Dimas [21]
Number of outcomes of rolling a die = 6
Number of outcomes from the spinner = 8

First we have to draw the 6 leaves to represent the 6 outcomes of rolling the die. Next on each of these leaves 8 possible outcomes of the spinner will be drawn using leaves.

So 6 leaves are being divided into further 8 leaves.

Thus total number of leaves will be  = 6 x 8 = 48 leaves

Therefore, the correct answer is option D

NemiM [27]

\frac{1}{6} or 0.167 pounds more butter was used than sugar

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that, Desmond's Desserts made a batch of fresh scones with 2/3 of a pound of butter and 1/2 of a  pound of sugar

<em><u>To find: Amount of butter used than sugar</u></em>

From given information,

\text{Butter used} = \frac{2}{3} \text{ pound }

\text{Sugar used } = \frac{1}{2} \text{ pound }

To find how much butter is used than sugar, find the difference between them

Difference = Butter\ used - Sugar\ used

Difference = \frac{2}{3} - \frac{1}{2}\\\\Difference = \frac{2 \times 2-1 \times 3}{3 \times 2}\\\\Difference =\frac{4-3}{6}\\\\Difference =\frac{1}{6} = 0.167\\\\

Thus \frac{1}{6} or 0.167 pounds more butter was used than sugar
