Answer:

Length of segment HG=60 inches.

Length of JI=30 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given , if a line JI is a midsegment of triangle FGH.

Triangle midsegment theorem: It states that when a segment formed by joining of midpoints of any two sides of a triangle then it is parallel to III side of triangle and half of its length.

JI is the midsegment , J is the midpoint of side HF and I is the midpoint of GF

Therefore, we have

HJ=JF and GI=IF

2x-3=x+2

By subtracting property of equality

2x-x=2+3

x=5 ( by simplification)

Length of side HG= 11x+5

Length of side HG=11\times 5+5=60 inches.

By substituting the value of x

JI=\frac{1}{2} HG

By using theorem

JI=\frac{1}{2} \times60=30

JI=30 inches.

Artist 52 [7]

Answer:

Lucy must walk up 80 steps to reach the 6th floor.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since Michael was 1.0 meters tall, and could only reach up to the 1st floor lift button, and from the 1st floor, he had to walk up 100 steps to reach the 6th floor; while Vinh was 1.4 meters tall, and could reach the 5th floor button, and he had to walk up 20 steps to reach the 6th floor; If Lucy was 1.1 meters tall, to determine how many steps did she have to walk up to reach the 6th floor, the following calculation must be performed:

1 = 100

1.4 = 20

1.4 - 1 = 100 - 20

0.4 = 80

0.1 = X

0.1 x 80 / 0.4 = X

20 = X

100 - 20 = 80

Therefore, Lucy must walk up 80 steps to reach the 6th floor.

Marizza181 [45]

Hey!

You can make a proportion:

\frac{2}{\$ 4.20} = \frac{5}{x}

Cross multiply

\$ 4.20 \times 5 = \$ 21

Divide by 2

\$ 21 \div 2 = \$ 10.5

<em>5 pounds would cost $10.50</em>

Good luck and hope this helps! :)

The number of pages in the U.S. tax code exceeds the number of pages in the King James Bible by 18,528. The combined number of p
xeze [42]
Let the pages in U.S. Tax code be x pages while those in King James Bible be y pages.

From the information give,
x= y+18,528 => y=x-18,528
x+y = 21,472 => x+(x-18,528) = 21,472 => x+x-18,528 = 21,472 => 2x= 18,528+21,472 => 2x = 40,000 => x=40,000/2 = 20,000 pages

Therefore, U.S. tax code has 20,000 pages.
