During the grand opening of the T-Shirt Shack at the Madera County Emu Farm, four of the emus broke through the fence and attack

ed the customers. The manage of the emu farm is now looking for data about insurance settlements. She has heard that the proportion of settlements that are favorable to businesses is 0.68. She wants to verify this number with her own study. She wants to be 99% confident in her results, and she wants the margin of error to be within 0.1. Given :

p = 0.68

margin of error, E = 0.1

99% confident interval

alpha, α = 1 - 0.99

             = 0.01

$\frac{\alpha }{2}=\frac{0.01}{2} = 0.005$

∴ $z_{\alpha/2}=z_{0.005}=2.5758$ (z-critical value)

Sample size = $z_{\alpha/2} \times \frac{p(1-p)}{E^2}$

                    $=(2.5758)^2 \times 0.68 \times \frac{(1-0.68)}{0.1^2}$

                    $= 6.63475 \times 0.68 \times \frac{0.32}{0.01}$

                   = 144.37

                  = 145 (rounded off)

Therefore, there are 145 businesses does she need to sample to meet this criteria.

The owner of the Rancho Bar X wishes to use 2400 yards of fencing to enclose a rectangular piece of grazing land along the strai
aleksandrvk [35]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let length be x and breadth be y .

Along the river no fencing is required so total boundary line of the rectangular land = x + y + y = x + 2y

add divider to it so total length

= x + 2y + y = x + 3y

x + 3y = 2400

area A = xy

y ( 2400 - 3y ) = A

2400y - 3y² = A

For maximum area dA / dy = 0

2400 - 6y = 0

y = 400 yards.

x = 1200 yards

largest area = xy

= 48000 sq yards.

krok68 [10]

The product of a <em>complex</em> number and its conjugate is (a + i b) · (a - i b), where a and b are <em>real</em> numbers, and the result for the <em>complex</em> number 2 + i 3 is 13.

<h3>What is the multiplication of a complex number and its conjugate</h3>

Let be a <em>complex</em> number a + i b, whose conjugate is a - i b. Where a and b are <em>real</em> numbers. The product of these two numbers is:

(a + i b) · (a - i b)

Then, we proceed to obtain the result by some algebraic handling:

a · (a + i b) + (- i b) · (a + i b)

a² + i a · b - i a · b - i² b²

a² - i² b²

a² + b²

If we know that a = 2 and b = 3, then the product of the complex number and its conjugate is:

z\cdot \bar z = 2^{2} + 3^{2}

z\cdot \bar z = 13

Find the equation of the line passing through the points (0,1) and (-2,0). write the equation in slope-intercept form.
Misha Larkins [42]

First of all, you have to calculate slope of that,

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = (1-0)/(0+2) = 1/2

now, equation would be y-y1 = m(x-x1)

y-1 = 1/2(x-0)

y-1 = x/2

y = x/2+ 1
