Another name for the governor of a state is Chief Executive. The Chief Executive is a term used in a Prime Minister's government or Presidential.  

EXPLANATION

The position of the Chief Executive is guaranteed by the constitution. Among his powers are overseeing the executive branch of government, preparing executive budgets to be submitted to the legislature, implementing policies, and appointing or firing executive officials. In certain constitutions, the Chief Executive has the right to dissolve the legislature, veto laws, and submit his own bill to the legislature.

The term Chief Executive is also used to refer to the governor's office. It is also used to explain the nature of the job, analogous to the head of government. While other terms are often used, such as governor-general, governor, lieutenant governor, high commissioner, commissioner, administrator, prime minister, or minister-president.
