Explain in steps how overfishing of species like tuna, cod, and sardines can affect the kelp population of the bay ecosystem.

Biology

Zina [86]3 years ago

Those fish species are removed/ weakened so the organisms that the fish eat have less natural predators and increase in population. They need to eat more kelp in order to sustain their population, resulting in a loss of kelp as there is suddenly more of a demand for it then the kelp can grow. All because the predators were removed from the food chain.

The kinesthetic system relies on receptors in the ___________________ to relay information to the brain.
Likurg_2 [28]

The kinesthetic system relies on receptors in the vestibular nerve to relay information to the brain.

What is vestibular nerve?

 • The vestibular nerve transmits motion and positional information.
 • The vestibular apparatus, ocular muscles, postural muscles, brainstem, and cerebral cortex all communicate with each other in unison as part of the vestibular system.
 • The vestibulocochlear nerves have two main categories of unique sensory function.
 • The cochlear nerve controls hearing, while the vestibular nerve controls balance and equilibrium.
 • The vestibule and cochlea, which are monitoring receptors in the inner ear, are the origin of the vestibulocochlear nerves.
 • The most likely causes, according to researchers, are viral infections of the inner ear, swelling around the vestibulocochlear nerve, or viral infections that have already spread to other parts of the body.

How does the pH effect an enzyme reaction?
Nataly_w [17]
A pH environment has a significant effect on an enzymes. It can affect the intramolecular forces and change the enzyme's shape -- potentially to the point where it is rendered ineffective. With these effects in mind, typical enzymes have a pH range in which they perform optimally. For example, alpha amylase, which found in the mouth, operates most effectively near a neutral pH. However, lipases operate better at more basic pH levels.

Refers to the basic processes by which sensory organs and the nervous system respond to stimuli in the environment, and ________
saveliy_v [14]

Answer:

SENSATION refers to the basic processes by which sensory organs and the nervous system respond to stimuli in the environment, and Perception refers to the meaningful interpretations extracted from it.

Explanation:

The receptors present in the body at different locations sense the changes in inner and outer conditions. A particular receptor is activated by specific stimuli such as thermoreceptors sense the change in the temperatures. This process of detecting the stimuli is followed by the transduction of the stimuli and generation of nerve impulses to send the information to the central nervous system. The whole process is called sensation.

The sensory information sent to the central nervous system is processed and interpreted mainly in the cerebral cortex. This is called perception.

Some scientists have proposed that the earliest forms of life may have existed in an "RNA World" where RNA was both the genetic
Ugo [173]

Answer:

(B) The organism lives and replicates despite protease and DNase treatment, but the organism dies when treated with RNase.

Explanation:

DNA is the genetic material in present day organisms while some of the proteins serve as enzymes and catalyze the metabolic reactions.

An organism having RNA with the ability to serve as genetic material would not require DNA to survive. Likewise, if RNA molecules in these organisms also serve as the enzyme, proteins would not be required for survival.

Therefore, when treated with DNase and protease that digest the DNA and proteins respectively, these organisms would be able to survive. However, treatment with RNase enzymes that digest the RNA would kill them as RNA was their biocatalyst and genetic material.
