In 1988, fires consumed more than a million acres of Yellowstone National Park and its surrounding lands. But after three decades, Yellowstone’s forests have embarked on their recovery and have grown back.
This is as a result of the resilient ecosystems composed of species adapted to periodic severe fire. As long as adequate water is available for their growth, the plants will regrow.
The lodge-poles burnt during the fire, so we cannot say they are fire-resistant, but after some years, they grew back which showed their resilience.
