I’m studying for my Sat later in the month, and even using the answer key I don’t understand how to solve this question. Help?
shepuryov [24]

So with this equation, since the volume of the cylinder is 96 pi, plug that into the V variable, and since the radius of one of the marbles is 3, plug that into the r variable. From here, we can solve for x: 96\pi =24\pi +x(\frac{4}{3}\pi*3^3)

Firstly, solve the parentheses: 96\pi =24\pi +x(\frac{4}{3}\pi*27)\\ 96\pi =24\pi +x(36\pi)

Next, multiply 36 pi and x: 96\pi = 24\pi +36\pi x

Next, subtract 24 pi on both sides: 72\pi =36\pi x

Lastly, divide both sides by 36 pi, and your answer will be 2=x, or B.

What are simultaneous equations
Masja [62]

Answer:

Simultaneous equations are two or more algebraic equations that share variables e.g. x and y . They are called simultaneous equations because the equations are solved at the same time. Each of these equations on their own could have infinite possible solutions.

There are 16 animals in the barn. Some are chickens and some are horses. There are 48 legs in total. How many of each animal are
jasenka [17]

Good evening ,

Answer:

<h2>8 chickens</h2><h2>8 horses</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

let c = the number of chickens

let h = the number of horses

You have to solve this system

h + c = 16

4h + 2c = 48

h + c = 16 ⇒ h = 16 - c

If we substitute h=16-c in the second equation we will get :

4(16-c)+ 2c = 48

Then 64 - 4c + 2c = 48

Then 2c = 64 - 48 = 16

Then c = 8

Since h = 16 - c then h = 16 - 8 = 8

:)
