Solution :

Given :

The height of the person is 5 foot.

The height of the lamppost is 12 foot.

Speed of the person away from the lamppost = 4 ft/s

Let the distance of the tip of the shadow of the perosn to the pole at t seconds after the person started walking away from the pole be d(t).

By similarity of the triangles, we see that

$\frac{12}{d}=\frac{5}{x}$  .................(i)

Here x is the distance from the person to the tip of the shadow. As it is given the speed of the person is 4 ft/s, then the distance of the person from the pole 4t. So we have,

x = d - 4t  .............(ii)

Putting (ii) in (i) and solving for d is

d(t) = 6.85 t

So now if we derive d(t), we will get the wanted rate of the tip of the shadow.

∴ d'(t) = 6.85 ft/s

We are interested in finding out the proportion of adults in the United State who cannot cover a $400 unexpected expense without
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

given that we are interested in finding out the proportion of adults in the United State who cannot cover a $400 unexpected expense without borrowing money or going into debt.

Sample size = 765

Favour = 322

a) The population is the adults in the United State who cannot cover a $400 unexpected expense without borrowing money or going into debt

b) The parameter being estimated is the population proportion P of adults in the United State who cannot cover a $400 unexpected expense without borrowing money or going into debt.

c) point estimate for proportion = sample proporiton = \frac{322}{765} \\=0.4209

d) We can use test statistic here as for proportions we have population std deviation known.

d) Std error = 0.01785(\sqrt{\frac{pq}{n} }

Test statistic Z = p difference / std error

f) when estimated p is 0.50 we get Z = -4.43

g) Is true population value was 40% then

Z = 1.17 (because proportion difference changes here)

The table shows the animals at a petting zoo.What is the ratio of goats to the total number of animals?
Pachacha [2.7K]
Number of Goats in the zoo = 6
number of total animals = 2 + 4 + 3 + 6 = 15

Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

The missing number is 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

21 x 39 x _____ x 19 divided by 12 = 5187

Required

Fill in the gap

Let the missing number be represented with y; So, the expression becomes

\frac{21 * 39 * y * 19 }{12} = 5187

Multiply both sides by 12

12 * \frac{21 * 39 * y * 19 }{12} = 5187 * 12

21 * 39 * y * 19 = 62244

Rearrange the expression on the left hand side

21 * 39 * 19 * y = 62244

15561 * y = 62244

Divide both sides by 15561

\frac{15561 * y}{15561} = \frac{62244}{15561}

y = \frac{62244}{15561}

y = 4

Hence, the missing number is 4
