Essentially when we talk about the population of a place we talk about the number of people that live in that place. The more the number of people in a place the greater the population of a place and population have been increasing at astronomical rate in recent times.

Looking at the datasets, we can see that, the rate of population growth since sine the 1960s has increased so much and this is quite unsustainable and somehow accounts for the population explosion that is recently occurring in many parts of the world and is leading to many intervention programs.
