Sensationalism is a type of story in mass media in which events and topics are overhyped and exaggerated. This is considered a type of editorial bias that leads to the misrepresentation of the truth. Sensationalists stories usually report on insignificant events in a trivial matter, appealing to emotions and with little care for factual information. Publishers who printed these kind of stories, such as William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer, did it in order to sell more papers.
