The solid spindle ab is made of a steel with an allowable shearing stress of 12 ksi, and sleeve cd is made of a brass with an al

lowable shearing stress of 7 ksi. determine (a) the largest torque t that can be applied at a if the allowable shearing stress is not to be exceeded in sleeve cd, (b) the corresponding required value of the diameter d, of spindle ab.

solution:

solid spindle ab:

c= 1/2ds = ½(1.5) = 0.75in.

j= π/2c1= π/2(0.75)2 = 0.49701 in4

jmax = Tc/j

tab=jtal/c = (0.49701)(12)/0.75 = 7.952

sleeve cd = c2 = 1/2d2 = ½(3.0) = 1.5in

j = π/2(c24 – c14) = π/2(1.54-1.254) = 4.1172 in4

tab = jtl/c2 = (4.1172)(7)/1.5 = 19.213 kip.in

Find an x value and f(x) is just it's y value. we can start with x=0

when x=0 y= -3

when x= 2 y= -2

and so on, choose easy to read numbers.

you can finish the rest, let me know if you wanna check your answers or if you are stuck.

What is the domain of the function
mixas84 [53]

Answer:

  (a)  -∞ < x < ∞

Step-by-step explanation:

Unlike the square root function, the cube root function is defined for all values of its argument. Here, x can take on any value and the function will be defined for that value.

Solve the equation <br>y=2x-4, 3x+y=11
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

(3, 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the 2 equations

y = 2x - 4 → (1)

3x + y = 11 → (2)

Substitute y = 2x - 4 into (2)

3x + 2x - 4 = 11

5x - 4 = 11 ( add 4 to both sides )

5x = 15 ( divide both sides by 5 )

x = 3

Substitute x = 3 into (1) for corresponding value of y

y = (2 × 3) - 4 = 6 - 4 = 2

Solution is (3, 2)
