Normal fault - a dip-slip fault in which the block above the fault has moved downward relative to the block below. This type of faulting occurs in response to extension and is often observed in the Western United States Basin and Range Province and along oceanic ridge systems.

y= 18x and y = 12(x+1)

Equating the two equations, we have,

18x=12(x+1) = 12x + 12

18x-12x= 12

x= 12/6= 2

Since x= 2

y= 36 months
