The usual form for an augmented matrix representation of a system of linear equations has the variable coefficients listed in a square matrix with an additional column at the right containing the constants in the standard-form equations. This is illustrated in Matrix C.

The variables in the equations are usually left out of the matrix. That is, the system of equations AX= B is usually represented by the augmented matrix A|B, rather than (AX)|B. Thus "Matrix B" is not the best choice.
