AP Statistics teachers from across the country meet annually in Kansas City to score AP Statistics exams. One social event that

many teachers participate in is the annual Prediction Fun Run. Prior to the race, the teachers predict how long it will take them to complete the 1.96-mile long course. During the event, they are timed and their actual finishing times are paired with their predicted times. Here is a scatterplot of the results.
The winner of the race is not the fastest runner, but the most accurate runner.

a) Let x = the runner’s predicted time (in seconds) and y = the runner’s actual time (in seconds).
Provide the equation of the line that can be used to assess how accurate the runners were. Plot
this line on the graph above. Clearly label two points you are using to plot the line.

b) Is the line you drew in part (a) a least-squares regression line for these data? Explain.

c) While many runners were quite good at predicting their race time, some runners did very poorly at
this task. Circle the point of the runner who had the largest error in prediction. Justify your choice.
Was this runner faster or slower than predicted?

d) Describe the relationship between predicted time and actual time. Are all runners able to predict
their actual times approximately equally well?

Paha777 [63]

Answer:

Piper's claim is not correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

3(2(-3)+2) = 5(-3)+6

3(-6+2) = -15 + 16

-18 + 6 = 1

-12 = 1

PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ HELP ME!!!

1 1/8 to decimal show your work!!!
lions [1.4K]

Answer:

1.125

Step-by-step explanation:

1) First you have to turn it into an improper fraction

8*1 = 8. Add the numerator--> 8+1 = 9.

2) The improper fraction is 9/8

3) Divide 9 by 8

**Write this using long division

8 goes into 9 one time, so we will write one as our first digit

Carry down the 1 and the 0, 8 goes into 10 1 times so write 1.

And this point we have 1.1 above

Carry down the 2 and the 0, 8 goes into 20 2 times so write 2

At this point we have 1.12

Carry down the 4 and the 0, 8 goes into 40 5 times with no remainders so write 5 and end the division process.

Now we have 1.125 as our decimal for 9/8 which is equivalent to 1 1/8.
