What is the difference between positive and negative feedback cycles?
schepotkina [342]

Positive feedback cycles always increase the response. Negative feedback cycles always decrease the response.

Positive and negative feedback mechanisms always work in antagonistic fashion to maintain a homeostatic balance of a parameter such as temperatures or pH in the body. Positive feedback is akin to a gas pedal while negative feedback is akin to a brake and reverse pedal.

Explanation:

An example of a parameter is blood sugar levels. Glucagon is a hormone responsible for positive feedback since it increases blood sugars when levels are low. Insulin, however, is a negative feedback hormone that reduces blood sugars levels when they are elevated. These two work antagonistically to maintain the right sugar levels in the blood.

Which gland is responsible for the "fight or flight" response?
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer:

b. adrenal medulla

Explanation:

The gland responsible for the "fight or flight" response is the adrenal medulla. The nervous system sends out an impulse to smooth muscles and glands that tell the adrenal medulla to release adrenaline and noradrenaline into the bloodstream. Once they are released into the bloodstream and circulating through the body, it brings changes such as your breathing getting quicker and quicker and your heart pounding more and more.

Which organs/glands are important in regulating water output?
tatiyna

The water that leaves the body as exhaled air, sweat or urine is ultimately extracted from blood plasma and the organs/glands which are important in regulating water output are the kidneys, hypothalamus and endocrine glands. The kidney has a remarkable ability to dilute or concentrate urine according to an individual’s changing physiological needs and to regulate electrolyte excretion. Moreoever the hypothalamus is located in the brain and links the nervous and endocrine systems to each other. In addition, the endocrine glands secrete their porducts and hormones directly into the blood rather that through duct and the major glands of the endocrine system include hypothalamus. Endocrine glands secrete chemicals such as saliva or sweaat and secrete hormones directly into the blood stream.

Arlecino [84]

Answer:

Population Growth: Exponential

Subsistence Growth: Arithmetic

Explanation:

Thomas Malthus was kind of a pessimist. His theory says basically we will run out of food and die. People grow like this equation: 2^x while food grows like this equation: 2x. So if you understand that it explains it.
