Also known as the "Connecticut Compromise" or "Sherman's Compromise," the Great Compromise was reached during the U.S. Constitutional Convention in the 1787. Like the previous proposals, the agreement allowed for the creation of the two houses of the U.S. Congress. The members in the lower house, the House of Representatives, were to be allotted based on population. Unlike the previous proposals, the members of the upper house, the Senate, were to be allotted not proportionally, but two to each state. The compromise was reached to address the feeling from the smaller states that their interests would be drowned out by the larger states.

Give one reason Joseph II’s reforms failed.
Colt1911 [192]

I think, Hungarian nobles tried to reject Joseph's decrees on the grounds that he had not gone through an official coronation there. Even peasants were often more concerned with the taxes that the empire demanded than with their new freedoms.

Hope it helps!

1. Why did the US become involved in the Panama Canal?
Vilka [71]
The United States wanted a method of export and transportation to and from the United States originally when Panama was a part of Colombia. This is why they helped Panama's revolution to become its own independent country. If they had good relations and Panama went as planned, the US could finally build the canal they wanted so badly. The canal now allows transportation of many of the goods we purchase and use today here in the United States.
