X = sandwich, y = soda

x + 2y = 5.5
x = y +1

Solve the system of equations and you have: y = 1.5 and x = 2.5

One of Newton’s laws of motion states that objects in motion tend to stay in motion. What is the reason that this law may not al
Nastasia [14]

The answer is D.

The full specification of Newton's First Law is (from Wikipedia)

In an inertial frame of reference, an object either remains at rest or continues to move at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by a force.

On earth we're generally in slightly a non-inertial frame, with rotation and revolution around the sun. It's also impossible to turn of gravity, so objects are being acted upon by an outside force. Typically there's also the outside force of friction, which makes things tend to stop.

If one root of the equation is 4x^2- 2x+p-4 be the reciprocal of other. then find the value of p
SashulF [63]

Answer:

p = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one root of the eqn. be alpha . Other root is 1/alpha .

We know that product of both roots of an quadratic eqn. is c/a where "c" is the co-efficient of the constant  & "a" is the co-efficient of x^2.

Here "c" is p-4 & "a" is 4. And the product of roots is 1 ( ∵ prdouct of a number and its reciprocal is 1 )

\frac{c}{a} = 1\\=> \frac{p - 4}{4} = 1\\=> p - 4 = 4\\=> p = 4 + 4 = 8

Explain why graphing the solutions of an inequality is more efficient than listing all the solutions of the inequality.
Nadya [2.5K]
The saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" comes to mind here. You can list all of the possible points in a solution region, or you can list a few points to give the general pattern. Though this method requires a bit more work than simply graphing and showing the solution shaded region. A visual is often more efficient at conveying a message especially to those who aren't proficient with algebra. I'm sure there are other reasons why graphs are the better choice, but that's all I could think of really.
