When Germany invaded France, this left England alone to fight the Germans. The German army attacked multiple fronts which forced France to pull back soldiers in order to defend the homeland. Leaving England to fend off German militia by themselves.

Germans were famous for "Blitzkrieg", which was a style of war that was a fast and overwhelming attack. These attacks were made with mobile and maneuverable forces in order to strike as fast and as hard as possible. They also included air support and tanks in order to end the fight as quickly as possible, therefore, limiting the number of casualties on their side.
