The problems in Boston precede the declaration of independence by almost six years.
The hostilities in Boston started March 1770 and escalated further until 1773 when the rebels sabotaged a shipment of tea. The group, called The Boston Sons of Liberty boarded three ships and threw the tea overboard.
However, the declaration of independence was still a few years away.
