What did the delegates agree on ?

In May 1787, delegates from every state—aside from Rhode Island—met for a convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the so-called Constitutional Convention, it was determined that a new constitution should be written in place of the Articles of Confederation as the best way to address the issues facing the fledgling nation. At the Constitutional Convention, George Washington served as the chairman.

Months were spent debating what would be written in the Constitution by the delegates, or representatives for the states. Some states supported a strong central government, while others opposed it. While minor states want equal participation with bigger ones in Congress, major states believed that they should have more of a voice there.
