Ida B Wells wrote the Red Record showing the horrors of lynching while WEB Du Bois created the NAACP. This awakening coupled with WWI job opportunities caused many blacks to migrate North. As blacks moved North they settled in neighborhoods together where black culture began to grow with large numbers of blacks together.
