What two compounds are the waste products of cellular respiration? * H2O and CO2 H2O and C6H12O6 CO2 and C6H12O6 ATP and CO2
rusak2 [61]

Answer:

The two compounds that correspond to waste products of cellular respiration are H₂O and CO₂.

Explanation:

The cellular metabolic waste products, specifically from cellular respiration are water (H₂O) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), from the oxidation of glucose into energy.

The process of cellular respiration occurs in the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells and consists of a series of chemical reactions where, from a glucose molecule, energy is obtained in the form of ATP molecules.

Obtaining H₂O and CO₂ from glucose can be summarized with the schematic reaction:

                                 C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂ → 6H₂O + 6CO₂

This summary indicates that a glucose molecule, when oxidized, produces as waste 6 molecules of water and 6 molecules of carbon dioxide. To reach this process all the reactions of the oxidative phosphorylation occur and 24 molecules of ATP are obtained for each molecule of glucose.

For the other options it is important to mention that:

  • C₆H₁₂O₆ is the substrate from which cellular respiration takes place.
  • ATP is the final product of cellular respiration, translated into energy to be used by the cell.

How does the recesive sickle-cell allele stay in the gene pool
Zina [86]

Answer:

Because natural selection selects for it. Thus it persists.

Explanation:

You have to understand heterozygote advantage. Basically, it's where heterozygotes have an advantage over homozygotes. In the case of sickle cell disease, heterozygotes have an advantage, and natural selection favors whatever is advantageous. Thus, because heterozygotes each have one recessive sickle-cell allele, as natural selection favors the heterozygotes, the recessive sickle-cell allele persists and remains in the gene pool.

Disadvantages of normal floras
inn [45]
It has a lot of advantages as well as disadvantages; but they prevent or suppress the entry of pathogens; colonies produced by some organisms of normal flora have a harmful effect on the pathogens; endotoxins liberated by normal flora may help the defense mechanism of the body. What are two reasons for why a species might disappear from the fossil record?
postnew [5]
1. One reason is extinctions happen because of some kind of change in the environment where a life form lives. While some species can adapt to the changes, others die, and if enough die, the species becomes extinct. These are some of the biggest factors in the extinctions of particular species. 2. Contaminants in the environment, such as pesticides.

Where do the most amount of energy in food webs come from ?
expeople1 [14]

Answer:

A. The Sun

Explanation:

The farther down the food web or food chain you go, the less energy is transferred from one organism to the next. This means that by one organism consuming the other, the one doing the consuming will receive less energy than the one that it had just consumed had from whatever it ate.

Because the sun is the basis on all energy, and producers get their energy from the sun, it carries the most amount of energy.
