1/9 + 1/3= 4/9

they need to have the same denominator to add them so i made both denominators 9 as 9 is the lowest common multiplier . 1/9 stayed the same because its denominator was already 9 and 1/3 changed  to 3/9 beacuse to get from 3 to 9 i times by 3 so i did 1 (the numerator) times by 3 to get 3/9

Im not sure if i am understanding the question correctly... 

If you are asking if Jama's mom is correct, then no. she is wrong. this is because 

if you take the proportion,  (is/of)=(%/100) you get (x/30)=(70/100). You then solve for x which in this case would be 21 students are wearing tennis shoes.
