Answer:

Rod Serling believes that most people in American and in the small towns have a Maple Street. Kind of like most towns have a Main Street, USA. It makes the story more relatable to people in general.

Explanation:

The Twilight Zone was supposed to be about normal American families/people but Serling makes it interesting when weird things begin to happen.
