The land was cheap, so many Americans settled in Texas. Mexico tried to stop them, but they still came. Slavery was against Mexican law, but Americans brought slaves to Texas. Many American settlers and Tejanos, or Mexicans who lived in Texas, wanted to break away from Mexico. They did not like laws made by Santa Anna, Mexico’s president. The Tejanos and Texans decided to fight for independence.

First Nations opinions on immigrants is different than the rest of society. Immigrants affect society and the economy in a positive way, by having education and skills from different countries and bringing it to Canada so we can have more workers for economic jobs, that help Canada's economy grow.

Due to Canada's very cold climate our population is not as high as country's like the U.S. The climate is gets more cold norther of Canada. This is the reason why the provinces are more populated than the territories. Also some people want to live in Canada because they enjoy the cold climate.
