Answer:

One result of World War II was the birth of two "worlds", the sphere of influence of the victorious Communists that controlled most of the Eastern Eurasia, and the other sphere of influence under that of the United States. As relations between the two contradicting systems of beliefs deteriorated, the Cold War was well underway, as each country raced to obtain allies all around the world and to set up alliances and blocs.

What is the importance of Montesquieu's idea of checks and balances?
gtnhenbr [62]

For Montesquieu, despotism was one of the worst threats for a government. He pointed separation of powers as the best way to prevent it, in which legislative, executive and judicial power was excercised by different bodies of government, and these bodies were ruled by supreme law.

The system of checks and balances is very important for the U.S. government, since it was developed to assure that neither of the government's branches would empower too much. The writers of the U.S. Constitution developed a system that divides power between legislative, executive and judicial, and incorporates several limits and controls on the powers of every branch.

What did Roosevelt do to earn immortalization at Mount Rushmore?
liberstina [14]

Answer:

According to Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore, President Theodore Roosevelt represented the development of the United States. Therefore, he put him along with President Washington, who represented the birth of the United States; President Jefferson, who represented the nation's growth; and President Lincoln, who represented the United States' preservation.

Between 1927 and October 31, 1941, the sculptor Gutzon Borglum and 400 other workers created the 18-meter-high bust of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln to mark the country's 150th anniversary. Visitors to the park come primarily to see the granite sculptures, but it is also possible to visit the studio used during the works, which was built in 1939 under the direction of the artist.
