Each of the 4 people will receive a fraction \frac{1}{24}.

  • Initial left over of a cake = \frac{1}{6}
  • Number of person to share the cake = 4
<h2>Further Explanation</h2>

To determine what fraction each person would have to complete the following steps:

<h3><u>Step 1: </u></h3>

We will divide the initial left over of the cake (\frac{1}{6}) by the number of person to share the cake (4) i.e. \frac{1}{6} ÷ 4

<h3><u>Step 2: </u></h3>

Since we are dividing a fraction (\frac{1}{6}) by a whole number (4), we would need to convert the whole number to a fraction. Hence, 4 becomes \frac{4}{1}

Therefore, we have \frac{1}{6} ÷ \frac{4}{1}

<h3><u>Step 3: </u></h3>

To derive final answer it is important we convert the division sign (÷) to multiplication (x), and also exchange the places of the numerator and denominator of the second fraction (\frac{4}{1}) i.e. (÷) become (x); (\frac{4}{1}) becomes (\frac{1}{4}).

Therefore we have \frac{1}{6} x \frac{1}{4}

<h3><u>Step 4: </u></h3>

We multiply the numerators of both fractions together, and also do the same to the denominators.

Therefore we have (1 x 1) / (6 x 4) = \frac{1}{24}

<u>Step 1 to 4 joined together: </u>

= \frac{1}{6} ÷ 4

= \frac{1}{6} ÷ \frac{4}{1}

= \frac{1}{6} x \frac{1}{4}

= (1 x 1) / (6 x 4)

= (1) / (24)

= \frac{1}{24}

Virgil has 1/6 of the original cake, which he wants to divide into 4 parts. Thus:
1/6 / 4
= 1/6 x 1/4
= 1/24

Each person will receive 1/24 of the original cake.

The back of Monique's property is a creek. Monique would like to enclose a rectangular area, using the creek as one side and fen
kondor19780726 [428]
So long as the perimeters are the same, rectangles and squares share the same area. For example, a square that is 2m by 2m across is 4m squared. A rectangle of 4m by 1m across is still 4m squared.

Therefore all we want to do here is see how big we can make our “square” perimeter using the creek. We have three sides to spread 580ft across, therefore if we divide this by 3, we get 193.3ft of fencing per side. If we then square this figure, we will then get the maximum possible area, which comes to 37,377ft squared. (That’s a huge garden).

Answer part A, B, and C. (28 points)
mart [117]

A)

Two sides are 8 x 2 = 16 x 2 = 32 sq. in.

Two sides are 11 x 2 = 22 x 2 = 44 sq. in.

Top is 8 x 11 = 88 sq. in.

Total surface area: 32 + 44 + 88 =  164 square inches.

B) Area of a circle = PI x r^2

Area = 63.585

63.585 = PI x r^2

Using 3.14 for PI:

63.585 = 3.14 x r^2

Divide both sides by 3.14:

r^2 = 63.585 / 3.14

r^2 = 20.25

r = √20.25

radius = 4.5 inches.

C)

Diameter = radius x 2

Diameter = 4.5 x 2 = 9 inches.
