The cost price is thus;

20 * y = 20y Birr

Now for the selling price;

16 kg was sold at (y + 3/4) Birr per kg

we have here that;

16 * y + 3/4 * 16

= 16y + 12

The rest is thus; 20 - 16 = 4 kg

The rest of this at (y + 1) per kg will be

4 * (y + 1) = 4y + 4

The total selling price is thus;

4y + 4 + 16y + 12 = 20y + 16

The profit is the difference between the selling and cost price

We have this as:

20y + 16 - 20y

= $16
