Julia has to mow two yards she will need 13/16 gallon of gas to mow the first yard and 2/5 gallon to mow the second yard she has
Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

Julia has  enough gas to mow the two yards.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Julia needs \frac{13}{16} gallon of gas to mow first yard.

Julia needs \frac{2}{5} gallon of gas to mow second yard.

Julia has a total of 1\frac{1}{2} gallon of gas in in her can.

To find whether she has enough to mow both yards.

Solution:

Total gallons of gas needed to mow two yards can be found out by :

⇒ \frac{13}{16}+\frac{2}{5}

Taking LCD =80.

⇒ \frac{13\times 5}{16\times 5}+\frac{2\times 16}{5\times 16}

⇒ \frac{65}{80}+\frac{32}{80}

Adding the numerators.

⇒ \frac{97}{80}

⇒ 1.2125 gallons

Julia has 1\frac{1}{2} gallon = 1.5 gallons of gas in in her can.

Since  1.5>1.21 , thus we can say that Julia has enough gas to mow the two yards.

goblinko [34]

Answer:

7 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

the new height of the bush can be represented in percentage form as 100% + 40% = 140% = 1.40

1.40 x 5 = 7 feet

Method 2
