How many electrons are present in an atom with its 1s, 2s, 2p, and 3s subshells filled with two electrons in the 3p subshell? Wh

at is the element?
Wouldn’t it be Argon?
1s=2 electrons
2s= 2 electrons
2p= 6 electrons
3s = 2 electrons
3p= 6 electrons
Total electrons is 18 which would be Ar on periodic table.. please explain why I’m wrong

Answer:

magnesium

Explanation:

1s^2 2s^2 2p^6 3s^2 3p^2 = 14

magnesium is 14th in the periodic table

3p^2 because you have said that 3p subshell is filled with two electrons only.

If the potassium atoms could be lined up in a row, how many of them would it take to make a 1.00 ft row of potassium atoms?
LiRa [457]

If the potassium atoms could be lined up in a row, it would take to make a 1.00 ft row of potassium atoms is 5.45 × 10⁻⁸.

Potassium atom is represented by K with atomic number 19. It is a silvery white metal.

Given,

Radius = 280pm = 280 × 10⁻¹²m

Diameter = 2radius = 560× 10⁻¹²m = 560pm

We know that,

1 feet = 0.305m

So, number of potassium atoms that fits into the row,

1 feet = 0.305/560 × 10⁻¹²

1 feet = 5.45 × 10⁻⁸

Hence, it takes 5.45 × 10⁻⁸ atoms of potassium to make a 1 feet row.

The device shows the relative humidity at 22°
sergeinik [125]
The relative humidity shows us saturation of water in air. Since it is 58% and not 100% we have to scale density that we were given when humidity is 100%.

At 100% humidity, density is 20grams/cubic meter

at 58% it will be:
0.58 * 20 = 11.6 g/m^3

Since the question is to find density, the answer cannot be in %.

Answer is 11.6 g/m^3

Consider an ionic compound, MX, composed of generic metal M and generic, gaseous halogen X.The enthalpy of formation of MX is ΔH
Studentka2010 [4]
Here are the given:
ΔHf° = –423 kJ/mol
ΔHsub = 119 kJ/mol
IE = 469 kJ/mol
ΔHEA = –301 kJ/mol
BE = 161 kJ/mol

The lattice energy of the compound is solved using the formula:
U = ΔHf° - ΔHsub - BE - IE - ΔHEA
U = -423 - 119 - 161 - 469 - (-301)
U = -871 kJ/mol

Therefore, the lattice energy is 871 kJ/mol (released).

Why is an electron ejected when green light hits the metal?
Roman55 [17]

Explanation:

If a large photon strikes the surface, that has enough strength to take out an electrode, which will then travel to the positive side since it is negative. Current is flowing at this stage. Since the reduced photons will be unable to distinguish between atoms, no power can pass.
