It occurred on June 17, 1775, in Boston. 2,200 British forces under the command of Major General William Howe, landed on the Charlestown peninsula, and marched towards Bunker Hill. The British won the battle, and Charlestown Peninsula became under British control. Although the British had been victorious, the battle was a morale builder for the inexperienced Americans, who were outnumbered almost 3:1 and managed to wound and kill almost half of the British troops!
