The legs of an isosceles right triangle are 11 cm long. Find the length of the hypotenuse. Round to the nearest tenth if necessa
GaryK [48]
Its a squared + xb squared = c squared  so its 11 squared + 11 squared equals c squared. So I'm gonna take it down to the next step and say 11x11+ 11x11= c squared, then you end up with 121+121= c squared then you add those two and end up with 242= c squared, so then you find the square root of 242 so you should end up with 15.5 and the number goes on and on and on

A treasure map says that a treasure is buried so that it partitions the distance between a rock and a tree in a 5:9 ratio. Marin
Tanya [424]
Let the coordinates of the treasure be (x,y).
Let d_{1} =  distance from the rock to the treasure.
Let d_{2} =  distance from the tree to the treasure.
 d_{1} = \sqrt{(x\2 + (y-2)^2}
d_{2} = \sqrt{(16-x)^2 + (21-y)^2}
We want \frac{ d_{1} }{ d_{2} } = 5/9 in order to locate the treasure.

Note that 5/9 = 0.556 (approx)

The number of boys varies directly as the number of girls and inversely as the number of teachers. When there are 24 boys and 16
lidiya [134]
SO from what I did was...

Since 24 x 3 = 72 , I did the same to 16.

16 x 3 = 48

But because instead of their being 3 teachers there is 1... What I did is just was to divide 48 / 2 which gave me the answer of 24...

So what I think the answer is...

There are 72 boys, 24 girls, and 1 teacher...

Unless I am just dumb and it would be 48 girls, but I think I did it right.

I hope I was able to help out.

Find the areas of the trapezoids. PLZ HELP!!!!
barxatty [35]

Answer:

<em>Type 7.5 in the box!</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the trapezoid formula ( ( base 1 + base 2 ) / 2 ) * height;

Length of Base 1 - 1 unit,\\\\Length of Base 2 - 4 units,\\\\Length of Height - 3 units ( length of x - intercept in shaded region )\\\\Area of Trapezoid = ( Average of Bases ) * Height = ( ( 1 + 4 ) / 2 ) * 3 = ( 5 / 2 ) * 3 = 7.5 square units,\\\\Solution; 7.5 square units

<em>Area = 7.5 square units</em>
