the equation P=2(L +w) can be used to find the perimeter P of a rectangle with length L and width W. Solve the equation for w to
Alenkasestr [34]
Hello,

We know that if we make the same operation on both sides, we don't affect the equation:

For example:
2=2 \\ 2\bold{+2}=2\bold{+2} \\ 4=4

Do you see? we add 2 on both sides and we don't affect the equality

We can do the same with the multiplication, for example

4=4   (i'll multiply both sides by 1/2)
4*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}}=4*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}} \\ 2=2

Now, we do exactly the same in your excercise:

P=2(L+W) \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,[multiply\,\,by\,\,1/2] \\ \\ P*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}}=2(L+W)*\bold{ \frac{1}{2}} \\  \\ \frac{P}{2}=L+W\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,[Subtract\,\,L]\\  \\ \frac{P}{2}-\bold{L}=L+W-\bold{L}\\  \\ \frac{P}{2}-\bold{L}=L-\bold{L}+W \\  \\ \frac{P}{2}-L=W\\ \\ \boxed{ W= \frac{P}{2}-L }

In 1985, there was 285 cell phones subscribers in the small town of centerville.After 1985, the number of subscribers increased
wolverine [178]
First we write a function that suits the problem.
 We have then:
 y = 285 * (1.75) ^ x
 Then, we see how many years there are in the requested period
 x = 1994-1985 = 9
 We evaluate the function for x = 9
 y = 285 * (1.75) ^ 9
 y = 43871.98637
 Round nearest whole number
 y = 43872
 Answer:
 there were 43872 cell phones subscribers in centerville in 1994

Add the following polynomials, then place the answer in the proper location on the grid. Write your answer in descending powers
Lynna [10]
The answer from summing up x^4 - 3x +1, 4x^2 - 2x +8 and x^3 - 9 would be x^4 + x³ + 4x² - 5x. This is adding first the highest power, in this case the highest is 4th power, do we need to add all the variable that is in 4th power then it will be followed by the next lower power.

(a) I wanted to determine how much water my sprinkler was using, so I set out a bunch of empty cat food cans at various distance
storchak [24]

Answer:

a) 108 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

2pi (x*f(xi)........)*deltax

x is the point in the table

so for the first three points

2pi(2*f(2)+4*f(4)+6*f(6).....)*2

and so on for the rest

make sure you convert f(x) into feet, for example (2, 2.1) do 2.1/12

first point in equation

2pi(2*(2.1/12)+....)*2
