The net primary production of a pine forest on a lava flow on Mount Fuji is about 165,000 kcal/m2/yr, and the plant respiration

is estimated to be 95,000 kcal/m2/yr. What is the total amount of energy transferred during photosynthesis for this ecosystem?

Answer:

The total amount of energy transferred during photosynthesis for this ecosystem equals 260,000 kcal/m2/yr.

Explanation:

To answer this question, we need to know that

 • gross primary productivity (GPP) = energy captured and converted into chemical energy during photosynthesis
 • net primary productivity (NPP) = difference between GPP and respiration rate

So, to calculate GPP we need to sum NPP to Respiration rate. This if,

NPP = 165,000 kcal/m2/yr

R = 95,000 kcal/m2/yr

NPP = GPP – Respiration

Then,

GPP = NPP + R

GPP = 165,000 kcal/m2/yr + 95,000 kcal/m2/yr

GPP = 260,000 kcal/m2/yr

Consider this animal cell. The organelles in an animal cell are labeled. Part D are stacked tubular structures. Which organelles
Dima020 [189]

Answer:

The image of the animal cell was not included in the question, the image has been added as an attachment.

The answer is centrioles; found in animal cells but not plant cells

Explanation:

According to the question, the image in the attachment section is an animal cell with labelled organnelles. An animal cell does not possess a Chloroplast, which is unique to only plant cells. Hence, organnelles D cannot be Chloroplast.

Ribosomes are organnelles made up of a complex of RNA and proteins. They are the site of protein synthesis, which occurs in all living cells. Hence, all cells including plant and animal cells contain Ribosome organnelles. Therefore, it is a wrong choice.

Centrioles are cylindrical tube-like structures made up of microtubules arranged in a specific pattern. Centrioles are present only in animal cells and play a major part in cell division, where they organize microtubules that separate chromosomes. As seen in the image, the two centrioles are perpendicular to one another, forming a CENTROSOME. A plant cell does not possess centrioles instead they contain microtubules organizing centres (MTOC).

Mitochondrion are present in both animal and plant cells as energy-generating organnelles but they are not stacked tubular structures as described in the question.

Answer:

An increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will MOST likely affect C: Cave formation rates .

Explanation:

"Carbon-di-oxide" is an important gas which 'controls' the Earth's temperature. CO2 including methane are greenhouse gases which absorb a lot of energy and then re-emit it. Without these gases, earth would get frozen. But, if these gases are in excess, then temperature of earth would rise like that of Venus, up to 400 degree Celsius.

If CO2 increases, there will be an increase in cave formation activity. Rain water takes CO2 from the air and penetrates in the soil. This results in formation of "limestone" as 'carbonate' accumulates in the soil. This forms 'cave of limestone' with the help of 'groundwater' as limestone dissolves easily in water.
