Answer: 9/12 - 5/12 = 4/12 = 1/3

Step-by-step explanation: Like fractions are the fractions that have same denominators.

In order to find a pair of fractions whose difference is , we can use the concept of equivalent fractions as well.

We can have many many pairs of like fraction whose difference is . An example illustrated below will give a better understanding:

Here, 9/12 and 5/12 are like fraction. Their difference is  1/3

Nine out of ten students prefer math class over lunch. How many students do not prefer math if 200 students were asked?
fredd [130]
So, 9 out of 10 students prefer class, so, obviously, it would not be 100. It would be 150. So in conclusion, 50 students prefer lunch over math class, whilst 150 other students prefer math class over lunch.

Explain how you determine an equation for a line using a table of input/output values.
Lubov Fominskaja [6]
Example :

            x               y
            1               3
            2               6
            3               9
            4               12

first thing u do is pick any 2 points (x,y) from ur table

(1,3) and (2,6)
now we sub those into the slope formula (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) to find the slope
(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
(1,3)....x1 = 1 and y1 = 3
(2,6)...x2 = 2 and y2 = 6
sub
slope = (6 - 3) / (2 - 1) = 3/1 = 3

now we use slope intercept formula y = mx + b
y = mx + b
slope(m) = 3
use any point off ur table...(1,3)...x = 1 and y = 3
now we sub and find b, the y int
3 = 3(1) + b
3 = 3 + b
3 - 3 = b
0 = b

so ur equation is : y = 3x + 0....which can be written as y = 3x...and if u sub any of ur points into this equation, they should make the equation true....if they dont, then it is not correct

and if u need it in standard form..
y = 3x
-3x + y = 0
3x - y = 0 ...this is standard form

Find the solution to the following equations below
zvonat [6]

Answer: A. infinite solutions

B. no solution

C. one solution

Step-by-step explanation:

A. firstly we distribute: -2x-6=-2x-6

since they are the same it is infinite solutions.

B. firstly we distribute: 4x-4=1/2x-4

                                   =2x=0

x=0

C. 3x-7=10+4x

x=17

A figure has been dilated from the origin by a scale factor of
Darya [45]

Answer:

See Explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

The question has missing details. So, I'll solve using a general assumption.

Let one of the coordinates of the figure be

A = (x,y)

Let the scale factor be n

When dilated, the new figure is:

A' = n * A

A' = n * (x,y)

To return the image back to the original figure, the new scale factor mus be a reciprocal of the previous scale factor i.e. \frac{1}{n}

So:

A = A' * \frac{1}{n}

Substitute n(x,y) for A';

A = n(x,y) * \frac{1}{n}

A = \frac{n(x,y)}{n}

A = (x,y)

Take for instance:

A = (2,3)

n = 2 -- scale factor

A' = n * A

A' = 2 * (2,3)

A' = (4,6)

To get A from A', using the analysis above

A = \frac{1}{2} * (4,6)

A = (2,3)
