Answer:

Hi, let's turn the word problem into a set of equations:

Let's say that x = # of chickens, and y = # of pigs

If there are 13 animals altogether, that means that

x + y = 13

If there are 40 legs together, we know that chickens have 2 legs, while pigs have 4, so the total number of legs would be:

2x + 4y = 40

We now have two different equations, with the same two variables, so we can rearrange and substitute one equation into the other to solve. We can rearrange the first equation as:

x + y = 13

x = 13 - y

Let's plug this expression for "x" into the second equation:

2(13-y) + 4y = 40

Now we have an equation with only one variable, so we can use algebra to solve for y:

26 - 2y + 4y = 40

2y = 14

y = 7, there must be 7 pigs.

From the first equation that we rearranged,

x = 13 - y

Now that we know the numerical value of "y", we can plug that in:

x = 13 - 7

x = 6, there must be 6 chickens

Use appropriate algebra and theorem 7.2.1 to find the given inverse laplace transform. (write your answer as a function of t.) −
aleksley [76]
When it comes to laplace equations, there are transformation equations to follow. Generally, when you want to transform a laplace equation, you change the equation from f(t) to F(s). If you do the reverse, it is called the reverse laplace equation.

Based on the given, the useful transformation equation is shown in the attached picture.

When the term is s^2, that must mean that the equation is 1!/s^(1+1) to yield 1/s^2. This means that n=1. Taking the reciprocal s^2 must be equal to 1/t. Thus, for the first term, -11s^2 is equal to -11/t. For the second term, n must be equal to 6 so that 6!/s^(6+1) would yield 720/s^7. Thus, 720s^7 is equal to 1/t^6.

Hence, the transformed equation is -11/t - 1/t^6

Are the fractions 1/5 , 5/5 , and 5/1 equivalent?Explain.
Debora [2.8K]
No, these equations are not equivalent.

1/5, or one fifth, is part of a whole. Imagine you have a pie, cut into five pieces, and your friend comes over and eats four pieces, so now you have one of the five original pieces. That's what you have here.

5/5, or five fifths, is a whole. any number divided by itself is automatically one, so it is like making another pie and cutting it into five pieces, only this time no one eats any of it because it's burned or something. At the end, you have five pieces of pie

5/1 is actually just another way of writing plain old 5. To keep the pie example rolling, you have five pies, and no one eats any of these either, so they are all yours. You have 5 pies divided between one person, so at the end of the day you have 5 whole pies.

Hope that helped!
