The respiration is the transfer of oxygen from the environment to the cells and removal of carbon dioxide from the cells is often referred as cellular respiration by which an organism obtains an energy.

But combustion is the burning of any hydrocarbon fuel in the air resulting the liberation of heat energy and other combustion by products like carbon dioxide, steam and Nitrogen. Practically, in addition to these gases there may also be the presence of sulphur dioxide, nitric oxide and oxygen which depends upon the composition of fuel and the amount of air supplied for combustion.
